RGT Patron Mick Green dies
British guitar legend and RGT Patron Mick Green very sadly passed away on 11.1.2010. He had been unwell for sometime and died of heart failure.
Tony Skinner from RGT attended his funeral on 13.1.2010 at Waltham Abbey. Mick’s energy-filled guitar playing with The Pirates from the 1960s onwards have led many commentators to describe him as one of the UK’s most influential rock guitarists, so it was appropriate that his funeral eulogy, written by his elder son Lloyd and read by his younger son Brad, ended with the words: “Heaven just got a bit louder!”.
Mick had been a great supporter of RGT over the past 15 years and in the last 5 years or so, when not touring or recording with artists of the calibre of Paul McCartney, Van Morrison and Brian Ferry, he had been actively involved in guitar education - teaching in schools and preparing students for their RGT exams. Mick will be greatly missed by everyone at RGT.
