  • Your details will be listed on the RGT@LCM’s popular and heavily-promoted website www.RGT.org. Many of our members find this invaluable in helping them to gain students. When anyone searches the internet for ‘guitar teachers’, the RGT@LCM is usually one of the first websites that is listed. You can also have a link to your website if you wish.

    If you don’t wish to have your details displayed online, you can choose to be ‘ex-directory’ – simply sign in to your account and un-tick the 'publish my details' option.

    If you would like a link to your website, you first need to set up an active link from your site to the RGT@LCM website. To do this, please sign in to your account and go to the logos resource page - follow the instructions on this page, using the logos and links of your choice. Once that has been done, simply complete the relevant field in your 'My Info' page and a link back to your website will be set-up. Please note that this benefit is not available to Associate RGT@LCM members.

  • Receive an RGT@LCM Membership Certificate showing that you are a ‘Registered Guitar Tutor’, which is suitable for display in your music teaching room. A wide range of free downloadable teaching materials are available from the Members Area of the RGT@LCM website.

    These resources are provided by RGT@LCM free of charge for RGT@LCM members to use in their teaching. The resources may be freely printed by current RGT@LCM members and distributed to students providing they are not ‘sold’ and providing the RGT@LCM acknowledgement at the bottom of each sheet is not omitted.

    There are three levels of fully-accredited Electric Guitar Teaching Diploma available: Diploma Of The London College Of Music - DipLCM(TD), Associate Of The London College Of Music - ALCM(TD) and Licentiate Of The London College Of Music - LLCM(TD).

    Each Diploma provides electric guitar teachers with the opportunity to gain a recognised professional qualification. The reduced fees for RGT-registered tutors (for the complete examination) are available on the fees page.   • Receive three issues per year of Guitar Tutor magazine - the only publication aimed specifically at the needs and interests of all guitar teachers. This is full of useful information and advice about guitar teaching methods and practices, guitar examinations, reviews of teaching materials and much more.

  • Access the RGT@LCM’s Tutor Advice and Support Service, enabling you to receive help and advice on all teaching matters from experienced examiners and educators. Just e-mail your query to lcm.exams@uwl.ac.uk and you will receive a reply normally within 48 hours.
  • Discounted entry to the RGT@LCM Annual Guitar Teachers Conference and other events.

    The RGT@LCM Conference is an ideal opportunity for guitar teachers to gain valuable professional development training with seminars by top music educators and also to meet other teachers and learn about the work of the RGT. It is held in autumn each year at the University of West London in London and is the ‘event of the year’ for anyone who teaches guitar. A series of seminars for teachers are also offered throughout the year.

  • Your students can gain accelerated entry onto the Academy of Contemporary Music’s Diploma and Degree courses and you will receive a referral fee if your students study on full-time courses at ACM.

    Contact the RGT@LCM office to obtain a special RGT/ACM entry form. The referral fee will be a one-off payment as follows: £350 for each student who joins the ACM Degree course (RGT@LCM grade 7 entrance requirement); £175 for each student who joins the ACM Higher Diploma course (RGT@LCM grade 5 entrance requirement); £250 for each student who joins the ACM Diploma course (RGT@LCM grade 2 entrance requirement). Please note that in order for the tutor to receive the referral fee, the student MUST apply using the special RGT/ACM entry form and include the tutor’s name on this application. The referral fee will not be payable if the student fails to provide the tutor’s name on the form, or uses a standard ACM application form. Referral fees will normally be paid by ACM within 16 weeks of the student’s commencement on a full-time course at ACM.

  • Obtain a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at a vastly reduced price. A DBS disclosure provides reassurance for potential students and their parents.

    Under current legislation, self-employed tutors are unable to obtain a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check themselves. The RGT@LCM has made a special arrangement with the DBS and the umbrella body 'Osborne Cawkwell Education Consultants' to offer a very competitive rate for RGT@LCM members in England and Wales to obtain a DBS Enhanced Disclosure (and if required, for an extra £13, then £13 annually, registration with the DBS update service to keep the check updated annually). The total of £60 includes the standard DBS fee of £44 and an administration fee (one of the lowest costs for DBS checking available in the UK).     This scheme entitles you to £1,000,000 level of cover and is available to all RGT@LCM members at just £53 per year including Insurance Premium Tax – this is half price compared to their standard charge of £105 for non-RGT@LCM members.
